10 weeks already!

Olivia is already 10 weeks old! Time flies! Olivia helped Mom finish her master's classes for the summer and is now helping her with lesson planning for the next school year. :) She is growing like a weed and is now 14 pounds last time we checked. She loves to smile and coo and play with ruffles on her outfits. She loves looking at her mobile and gets mad when she wakes up and it's not moving. LOL.

Although I thought I'd never do it, we are using the cloth diapers/wipes. Granted we invested in the BumGenius 3.0 OS diapers that pretty much go on like a disposable that you wash. But, I do like that I only use a couple disposables a day. This will be a different story once daycare starts when I go back to work.

Speaking of work. While I'm excited to meet my 7th/8th grade students and geometry classes, I am REALLY not looking forward to leaving my little girl. I've been away from her all of maybe 4 hours total (one dinner, two physical therapy trips). I feel like I'm going to miss out on so much! But it will be good for me to socialize with people outside the 2 month age group, lol.

Olivia has done much socializing though. She's been to Illinois twice for a 50th anniversary party and graduation party. She's participated in a 4th of July BBQ, Father's Day picnic, trip to Blank Park Zoo, visit to Valley West Mall, picnicked at Herman park, posed for two professional photo shoots, visited a 1 day old baby in the hospital, went to a parade, and she has also gone to MANY garage sales. Not to mention 3 trips to Clinton so far.

She's doing well with tummy time although she gets tired of it pretty quick... either resulting in sadness or an attempt at naptime, LOL.

37 Weeks Pregnant... almost there!

I didn't think I would actually do this as I really didn't see the point in documenting "weekly" or "monthly" pregnancy photos. What does a person do with all of those once the pregnancy is over? But I decided I would like to at least have "a" picture of me pregnant. The only others are at Christmas and I still could fit into my regular pants then so that doesn't really count. Plus I'm standing in the background.... haha.

Olivia has a ton of
0-3 month clothes! Her mother has been purchasing a lot at garage sales. It's so hard to pass up when cute little outfits still have tags on them for 50 cents. She will be very well dressed. :) We went out and purchased a rear-view mirror thing for the car and a sun shade. I really want to get her a swing before she's born. I have one on my registry... just haven't gotten around to purchasing it yet. Her baby shower will most likely be in July so the "infant" things we're purchasing now. I do not want to be without a swing for 2 months.

I'm feeling a little tired of being pregnant, but can't complain really... I haven't been sick at all and basically have just been coasting through. Two more weeks of work and then I'm on maternity leave. I'm ready to be done... :)

Hope all is well with everyone else! A few more weeks until we are a family of 3!!!!!!

Baby Things I've Created

Wooden letters for the wall. They are much brighter in person... especially the yellow and green. It's more of a lime green and sunny yellow.
Canvas painting I designed for the wall.
Receiving blankets... the blue one has the same green stripe fabric on the reverse.
Nursing cover clip. I used a similar pattern to make a pacifier clip with a snap loop on one end instead of a second button. There's a little clip under the button.
This picture and the next picture are the same bib... one side is flannel and one side is terry cloth.

A bib I made going off of a bib that my grandmother made.
I made these little cloth rings for Olivia to chew on/play with. They match the car seat cover below.
I have made a BUNCH of these burp cloths and have sold some on ebay as well. They're so simple to make and very absorbent as the base is a cloth diaper.
I made this little blanket with so "fabric remnants" from the remnant bin at JoAnn's fabrics.
Another blanket from fabric remnants. This one is all flannel.
Car seat cover. The reverse side is striped with the fabric that's under the fabric flower. One of the favorites of what I've made.

More Nursery

I'm glad that we have managed to get quite a bit of things for the nursery finalized. Of course there is much to do before little Olivia is born, but we have some time still. I would like to get a rocker/glider chair and ottoman but am waiting on that. Also want to get a swing. Our registry mostly includes the little stuff and some things that Olivia will use a few months in, as our shower will be conducted after Baby Schmidt is born. We also don't have a high chair yet but that doesn't necessarily have to be here when she comes. :)

I'm looking forward to decorating the nursery and being able to take my time getting the last minute items that I know we will need. I want to get wooden letters that spell out "OLIVIA" and paint them as wall decor. We are also planning to put up pink "black-out" curtains and paint two canvases with blue sky and clouds for the wall.

I cannot wait until little Olivia is born! It's so exciting to be anticipating a new addition to the family! :)

Ultrasound...It's a......

It's a girl!!!! Yesterday was my main (and last) ultrasound at which I measured 19 weeks 6 days which is consistent with my previous dating ultrasound at 12 weeks. Therefore my official due date is June 1st. It took awhile to figure out the gender as little Baby Schmidt kept "her" legs together for most of the ultrasound despite much kicking and squirming around. Here are some pictures of little Olivia Lillian. :) Clicking on the photos will give a more detailed description as I tried to label them. We thought it was cute that her little hands were in front of her face the whole time. She refused to turn over despite much prodding by the ultrasound tech, thus we mainly can only see the back side and top of her head.

Note: While EVERYONE asked me what I thought the baby would be, I honestly just wanted a healthy little son/daughter. However, part of me did really think it was a girl despite not admitting this to anyone other than Mike. Had it been a boy, we still wouldn't have a name... lol. I think boy names are much harder to choose! Olivia is a name that we both liked after looking through hundreds (and eliminating hundreds of names). Lillian is after my grandmother. If it was a boy, the middle name would have been Michael, the first name.... who knows...!

Nursery Progress

We've made much progress on the nursery! Mike put together the crib and decorated it (the crib) to surprise me. The rest of the room has slowly fallen into place. You'll notice Otis under the crib in one picture. We purchased the crib on Amazon.com and the armoire at Office Depot. We are going to change the curtains to pink to add a little color for Baby Schmidt!

Week 19

This week we were able to order a crib, and buy a dresser/changing table for Baby Schmidt's room. We also ordered a computer armoire to hide the computer in. The room is slowly coming together. It's nice to have somewhere to put all the little clothes and toys that Baby Schmidt is receiving. Next week we will "hopefully" find out if Baby Schmidt is a boy or a girl! We are very excited and can't wait!

I'm hoping to mostly update this blog when Baby Schmidt is born but maybe with a few updates before then.
